Janell & Adam’s wedding at Long Hollow Gardens in Nashville, TN
Janelle and Adam met at a local speakeasy during a friend's get-together. Janell was supposed to meet her friend's new boyfriend, but he brought along his friend, Adam. They hit it off immediately and knew they were meant to be together. After many group outings, Janell decided it was time for some one-on-one time with Adam, and their first date was a low-key affair at Adam's place, where they made tacos and played Mario Kart.
They had planned Adam’s 30th birthday celebration in Grand Cayman. On the last night of the trip, Adam suggested they go down to the beach all dressed up for dinner to take photos. Adam acted very suspicious during the walk, but Janell had no idea what was happening. Little did she know that he had hired a professional photographer to capture the moment as he got down on one knee in her favorite environment ever (sunset by the ocean). Janell says it was perfect!
Janell & Adam wanted a classic, not TOO formal wedding with a black-and-white theme and greenery. They wanted it to also feel timeless as they carried the photos into the future with them. When it came to choosing a Nashville wedding venue for their 120 guests' wedding, they decided on Long Hollow Gardens. They love nature and really wanted an outdoor wedding, but the weather is always a concern when planning anything outside. After taking one long look at Long Hollow Gardens with their greenhouse, they knew it was perfect for them. They were able to carry out their wedding vision in the greenhouse, and it was truly a magical dining and dancing experience among the plants with twinkle lights all around.
Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend who knew their story so well. Janell says, "it was awesome to hear that so many of our guests enjoyed the ceremony just as much as the reception. We all know that the actual vows can get a little boring, and ours were anything but that. We had laughs and tears as we wrote our own vows. We even ended the ceremony with rice paper confetti, which is actually biodegradable, unlike some of the paper confetti that says it is but is not."
The reception was just a short walk through the garden and had a DIY decor with candles and greenery. Janell created her own centerpieces, bouquets, and arch florals. Their favorite parts of the day were the ceremony for Adam and setting up early, and making the head table florals for Janell.
For couples planning their own wedding, Janell and Adam's advice is to think about 3-4 things that mean the most to you and splurge on them! For Janell and Adam, this was documentation and venue.
