How far in advance should I book my Nashville wedding videographer?

I recommend booking your Nashville wedding videographer 8 to 14 months before your wedding. For a Saturday in peak season (April to June or September to November), aim for the 12 to 14 month end, because the most in-demand filmmakers only take one wedding per day. For a Friday, Sunday, or winter date, 8-10 months is often enough.

A simple booking order

  1. Venue and date (12 to 18 months out). Nothing else can be booked without them.

  2. Planner, photographer, and videographer (8 to 14 months out). These three work closely together all day, so book them close together.

  3. Florist, band or DJ, hair and makeup (6 to 10 months out).

  4. Everything else (3 to 6 months out).

Why Nashville dates fill early

Nashville is one of the busiest wedding markets in the South. October Saturdays and late spring weekends go first, often more than a year out. Many videographers also cap how many weddings they take each year so they can give each film real editing time. I take 15 to 18 weddings a year, so the calendar fills faster than the number of Saturdays would suggest.

If your heart is set on a specific filmmaker, reach out as soon as your venue is signed. A quick email costs nothing, and many will hold a date for a day or two while you decide.

What to have ready when you reach out

You don't need every detail figured out. A few things make the first conversation easy:

  • Your date (or two you're choosing between) and your venue

  • A film or two you love, and what you love about them

  • The moments that matter most to you, like a first look with your dad or a grandparent who's traveling in

What if my wedding is less than 6 months away?

Still ask! Dates open up, and Fridays/Sundays are easier to get. Don't settle for someone whose work you don't love just because the date is close.

How long until I get my wedding film?

Most Nashville videographers deliver in 8 to 16 weeks, with peak season on the longer end. Many send a short teaser within the first few weeks. It’s in my contract that I deliver in 8-12 weeks, with the average being around the 10 week mark.

What happens after you book

Once your retainer and agreement are completed, your date is held, and the planning can slow down. We'll talk through your story and the moments that matter most on our Discovery Call, and a few weeks before the wedding, I'll send a questionnaire. This ensures I enter your wedding day with a list of all the moments/people most important to you and that I capture them and include them in your wedding film.

When booking early isn't the right move

If you haven't locked your venue or date, wait. Paying a nonrefundable retainer for a date that might change is money at risk. Book your venue first, then reach out.
